Case Description
In June 2023, a local resident, a former employee of a defense enterprise, Pavel Gily, was detained in Omsk. According to the FSB's version, the accused, being a citizen of the Russian Federation, collected information constituting a state secret in the military field and attempted to establish contact with a representative of the Federal Republic of Germany to transfer this information in exchange for assistance in relocating for permanent residence in Germany. A criminal case of treason was brought against him. The man was sent to a pre-trial detention center. 4 April 2024, the Omsk Regional Court found Pavel Gily guilty and sentenced him to 12 years in prison to be served in a strict regime penal colony, with a 1-year restriction of freedom. On June 28, 2024, the Fifth Appellate Court of General Jurisdiction left the verdict unchanged.
