Case Description
October 2021 saw searches and detentions of 11 people in Moscow and the Moscow region - they were suspected of participating in the activities of the religious organization 'Nurjular', recognized as an extremist organization in Russia. Against six of them, the Main Investigative Directorate of the Moscow Investigative Committee opened criminal cases on organizing and participating in the activities of an extremist organization. The accused were placed in a pre-trial detention center. On June 27, 2023, the Kuzminsky District Court of Moscow sentenced Yevgeny Tarasov, Mukazhan Ksyupov, Parviz Zeynalov, and Urdash Abdullayev to six and a half years in a general regime colony under the article on organizing the activities of an extremist organization. Il'mira Abdulina and Nikolai Nesterovich were found guilty by the court of participating in the activities of an extremist organization and sentenced to two years and seven months in a general regime colony. On November 8, 2023, the Moscow City Court left the verdict in force.
