Case Description
Olga Kolkova, a 38-year-old local resident, was detained in Simferopol, in the annexed Crimea, on December 1, 2023. She was accused of treason, undergoing training for the purpose of carrying out terrorist activities, and preparing to commit a terrorist act. According to the Russian investigation, from September 25 to 28, 2023, while in Istanbul, Kolkova established and maintained contact with an employee of the Security Service of Ukraine, during communication with whom she was recruited to cooperate. It is claimed that the woman agreed to move to live in Crimea, undergo "training in studying methods of manufacturing means of destruction and commit terrorist acts with their use on the territory of the Republic of Crimea." On November 13, 2023, Kolkova arrived in Crimea and received from an SBU employee the task of finding the necessary components, with the help of which to make two homemade hand grenades, with the help of which to set fire to a car with the "Z" logo attached to the body. Kolkova also allegedly received the task of purchasing a mobile phone and installing a special application on it for the purpose of subsequently creating a new "secure communication channel" and receiving instructions on making homemade hand grenades. In Simferopol, Kolkova found a car with a sticker with the "Z" logo on the body, but she could not set it on fire because she was detained. Before the election of a preventive measure, the woman was sent to a temporary detention center. On December 2, she was charged, and the court sent Kolkova to a pre-trial detention center. On February 26, 2025, the Southern District Military Court found Olga Kolkova guilty and sentenced her to 15 years in a general regime penal colony. On September 9, 2025, the Appellate Military Court left the verdict unchanged.
