Case Description
In Moscow on 15 November 2023, Oleg Vengryzhanovsky was detained in the yard of a house on Profsoyuznaya Street (on the other side of the city from his home). According to the security forces, the man "was in a state of intoxication, used obscene language, did not respond to remarks by police officers, and grabbed them with his hands." 4. The next day, the Cheremushkinsky Court of Moscow arrested him for 10 days under the article on petty hooliganism. After serving his administrative arrest, Vengryzhanovsky was detained again upon leaving the detention facility, this time in connection with a case involving a group of individuals preparing a terrorist attack. Investigators claim that Vengryzhanovsky received from an unidentified accomplice a task to commit a terrorist act by blowing up one of the tank cars at a railway station for monetary compensation. According to the investigation, in March 2022, Veprikov made several publications about the consequences of the SMO in Ukraine. Nevertheless, he was unable to carry out his criminal intent aimed at committing a terrorist act, as after the detonator was removed from the cache, he was detained by operational officers of the FSB of Russia for Moscow and the Moscow Region. On November 28, 2023, the Cheryomushkinsky District Court of Moscow sent the man to a pre-trial detention center. On August 7, 2024, the 2nd Western Military District Court found Oleg Vengryzhanovsky guilty and sentenced him to 14 years of imprisonment, with the first 4 years to be served in prison and the remaining time in a strict regime correctional colony.
