Case Description
In Nova Kakhovka, the occupied part of the Kherson region, no later than March 2024, 57-year-old local resident, Ukrainian citizen Oleg Skotar was detained. He was accused of espionage. According to the Russian investigation, in March 2024, Skotar, being a citizen of Ukraine and located in the Kherson region, collected and transmitted information about the movement and deployment locations of military equipment and personnel of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation to representatives of Ukrainian intelligence. These data could have been used to carry out strikes. For the duration of the investigation, the defendant was placed in a pre-trial detention center. On October 23, 2025, the Kherson Regional Court found Oleg Skotar guilty and sentenced him to 12 years of imprisonment to be served in a strict regime correctional colony. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
