In the Kursk region, no later than February 2025, a criminal case was initiated in absentia against Colonel Oleg Apostol, commander of the 95th Separate Airborne Assault Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, for a terrorist act committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy, resulting in significant damage. According to the Russian investigation, on August 6, 2024, under the leadership of Apostol, servicemen of the 95th Separate Airborne Assault Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, armed with combat weapons and ammunition, invaded the territory of the Russian Federation. While in the Sudzhansky district of the Kursk region, Apostol allegedly gave orders to his subordinates to carry out missile strikes, blow up residential buildings, civilian infrastructure facilities and vehicles, as well as place explosive devices on the streets that hinder the evacuation of civilians." The court in absentia chose Apostol a measure of restraint in the form of detention and put him on international wanted list.
