Case Description
In the annexed Simferopol, on January 17, 2024, the Investigative Department of the FSB of Russia for the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol opened a criminal case for illegal storage of explosives against 39-year-old local resident Nikolai Zhilich. On 18 January 2024, Zhilich was detained, after which the next day the Kyiv District Court of Simferopol placed the man in custody. On January 31, 2024, the Supreme Court of the Republic of Crimea mitigated the measure of restraint and placed him under house arrest, but at the beginning of February 2024, the court again sent the Crimean resident into custody. He was additionally charged with committing a terrorist act and treason. The details of the charges are unknown.
