Case Description
In the Nizhny Novgorod region on July 16, 2024, local resident Nikola Zevakhin was detained. Charges were brought against him for justifying terrorism and participating in the activities of a terrorist organization. The reason for criminal prosecution could have been cooperation with the "Artpodgotovka" movement and a comment in Mal'tsev's Telegram channel in connection with Navalny's death, as well as correspondence with Mal'tsev's supporter, in which the investigation saw preparation for the "Heavenly Regiment" action on May 9, 2023. Nikolai himself denies involvement in Maltsev's organization and the intention to justify or incite terror with his words. The court placed the defendant in custody. In early May 2025, it became known that the charge of participating in the activities of a terrorist organization was reclassified to participating in an extremist community. On August 6, 2025, the 2nd Western Military District Court found Nikolai Zevakhin guilty and sentenced him to 4 years of imprisonment, 8 months of restriction of liberty, and a 3-year ban on administering websites on the internet.
