Case Description
In the May Day district of the Altai Territory, no later than February 2024 (the exact date is unknown), 48-year-old local resident Nikolai Tsybalyuk was detained. He was accused of calling for terrorism. According to law enforcement, he created and administered a Telegram channel in which he called for donations to the Ukrainian Armed Forces and condemned Russia's invasion of Ukraine. As the prosecution claims, Tsymbalyuk allegedly "deliberately created a channel and filled it with anti-Russian content, including publishing "calls for various assistance to pro-Ukrainian terrorist organizations, whose activities are prohibited in the Russian Federation. The court sent Tsybalyuk into custody at the request of the investigation. On September 9, 2024, the 2nd Eastern Military District Court found Nikolai Tsybaluk guilty and sentenced him to six years of imprisonment to be served in a general regime correctional colony. On December 11, 2024, the Appellate Military Court left the sentence unchanged.
