Case Description
In Budyonnovsk, Stavropol Krai, at the beginning of July 2024, a local resident, Nikolai Shevchenko, was detained on charges of state treason. According to the security forces, the man "acting on the instructions of an employee of the Security Service of Ukraine, collected data on an enterprise of the chemical industry located in Budyonnovsk. The man allegedly passed on the information through Telegram to an SBU officer. The defendant in the case was sent to a pre-trial detention center. Stavropol Regional Court found Nikolai Shevchenko guilty on October 22, 2025 and sentenced him to 15 years in a strict regime colony. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
