Case Description
On March 1, 2022, in the city of Kupyansk, Kherson region, Ukraine, local deputy Nikolai Maslyi went to negotiate with Russian military personnel - he wanted to convince them to leave Kupyansk. He did not return back. Local residents suggest that Masliya may have been thrown into the basement of the Ukrtelecom building, and then taken to the premises of the municipal enterprise Teploenergo. According to them, Russian soldiers set up a prison there. In mid-March, Russian military personnel arrived at the house of Nikolai Masliy's son from his first marriage, Vladislav. T-shirts with the symbols of the "Aidar" battalion were found in the house. Because of this, Vladislav was beaten. They forced him to open the safe and took all the money from it. In September 2022, residents of Volchansk reported that they saw Nikolai being put into a car and taken in the direction of Russia. The last thing known about him is that he was held in a pre-trial detention center in the LPR. Pro-Russian sources report that Nikolai Maslia was "liquidated.
