Case Description
On October 7, 2023, in Naberezhnye Chelny, Republic of Tatarstan, a 33-year-old local resident, Nikolai Lekomtsev, was detained. A criminal case was opened against him for participating in an "extremist" organization. According to the investigation, the man ran a closed Telegram channel supporting the 'Artpodgotovka' movement. The Russian authorities consider 'Artpodgotovka' an 'extremist' and 'terrorist' organization. According to investigators, in 2023, Likhonov contacted a member of the 'Russian Volunteer Corps' through Telegram and began sending cryptocurrency for the needs of the unit. Following a request from the investigation, the court sent the man to a remand prison. On January 27, 2025, the Naberezhnye Chelny City Court of the Republic of Tatarstan found Nikolai Lekomtsev guilty and sentenced him to 2.5 years of imprisonment in a general regime colony. On June 24, 2025, the Supreme Court of the Republic of Tatarstan increased Lekomtseva's sentence by 1 year.
