Case Description
In the Bryansk region on February 25, 2024, unknown individuals set fire to a relay cabinet and a transformer substation on the section between the stations Chernets and Polpinskaya. The next day, 12 search groups of police combed the area and found a winter jacket with burned sleeves. The FSB claims that specialists were able to extract the DNA of the owner from the jacket and identify the arsonist. He turned out to be 21-year-old Nikolai Evseenko, a native of the village of Klimovo in Bryansk Oblast. In 2022 he was convicted under several articles, but in early May 2023 he signed a contract with the Ministry of Defense and went to the "Storm" unit, where he served until November, after which Putin pardoned him. The investigation claims that Evseenko confessed to the arson - according to the man, unknown individuals paid him 40 thousand rubles for the job. Allegedly, on March 3, the guy planned another arson, near the station Krasny Profintern." Besides Nikolai, a 16-year-old teenager, a student at the Bryansk Transport College, was detained in the arson case. Evseenko was accused of sabotage and attempted sabotage, by a group of persons by prior conspiracy and involving a minor in the commission of a crime. On March 4, 2024, the Volodarsky District Court of Bryansk chose Yevseyenko a measure of restraint in the form of detention. November 21, 2024, the Bryansk Regional Court found the defendants guilty and sentenced Nikolai Evseenko to 15 years in prison, with the first 3 years to be served in prison, and the rest in a strict regime colony. The court sentenced the minor resident of Bryansk to 6 years in a juvenile colony. 22 April 2025, the First Appellate Court of General Jurisdiction left Yevseenko's sentence unchanged.
