In the Omsk region, no later than March 2023, a criminal case was opened against 31-year-old prisoner Nikita Yakovlev, who was serving his sentence in a local colony, for calls to terrorism. According to the investigation, Yakovlev allegedly supported the Ukrainian 'Azov' battalion and spread information aimed at forming a 'terrorist ideology' in another prisoner during conversations. On January 26, 2024, the 2nd Eastern District Military Court found Nikita Yakovlev guilty and, in combination with the punishment under the verdict of the Sovetsky District Court of Omsk dated November 30, 2017, sentenced him to imprisonment in a strict regime colony for a term of 3 years and 2 months. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force. Previously, Nikita Yakovlev had been sentenced to 6.5 years under the article on drug distribution.
