Case Description
In Saratov, no later than March 2023, a local resident Nikita Vasilenko was detained on charges of justifying terrorism. The details of the accusation and the exact date of detention are unknown. The Frunzensky District Court of Saratov sent the young man to a pre-trial detention center. In October, the original charge of calling for terrorism was supplemented with a charge under the article on confidential cooperation with a foreign state. According to the Slovaks, Vasilenko "established and maintained confidential cooperation with a representative of one of the pro-Ukrainian terrorist organizations acting on behalf of Ukrainian special services to the detriment of Russia's security through electronic mail. 21 May 2024, the Central District Military Court found Nikita Vasilenko guilty and sentenced him to 5.5 years in a general regime colony. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
