Case Description
In Ufa in March 2023, 20-year-olds Arthur Shaidullin, Nikita Ivanov, and Ilmir Gaisin, as well as 16-year-old Alexei Krio, were detained on charges of arson of relay cabinets. According to the investigation, at the direction of "a person acting in the interests of Ukraine, the young men set fire to a relay cabinet on the Karlman - Priurale section. Also, it is claimed that on March 12, 2023, the young men attempted to set fire to another relay cabinet - on the Urshak - Kabakovo section in Ufa, but they were detained. According to the case file, they had tools, flammable liquid, and balaclavas with them. It is alleged that they were promised a monetary reward for the arson. Initially, criminal cases were opened against the men for preparing a terrorist act and intentional damage to property. But later the charge was reclassified to sabotage and attempted sabotage by a group of persons by prior conspiracy. On March 29, 2023, the Soviet District Court of Ufa sent them to a pre-trial detention center. June 13, 2024, the Supreme Court of the Republic of Bashkortostan found the defendants guilty and sentenced Nikita Ivanov and Ilmir Gaisin to 11 years in prison. They will have to spend 3 years in prison, and the rest in a strict regime colony. The court sentenced Artyom Shaydullin to 12 years and 1 month in prison. He must spend the first 3 years in prison, and the rest in a strict regime colony. The court sentenced Alexey Krio to 8 years in a juvenile colony. On November 25, 2024, the Fourth Appellate Court of General Jurisdiction left the verdict in force.
