Case Description
In Moscow, at Sheremetyevo Airport, upon arrival from Turkey in August 2025, 25-year-old entrepreneur Nikita Yefremov was detained. A criminal case was opened against him for financing extremist activities. Charges were brought against him for donating to Alexei Navalny's Anti-Corruption Foundation. According to the investigation, Yefremov activated the function of monthly automatic debiting of funds and from August 2021 to February 2022 made 7 non-cash money transfers "to support the activities of an organization and a public movement prohibited on the territory of the Russian Federation due to the implementation of extremist activities." On August 18, 2025, the Ostankino Court of Moscow appointed Yefremova a measure of restriction in the form of a prohibition of certain actions. On December 10, 2025, the Khimki City Court of the Moscow Region found Nikita Efremov guilty and sentenced him to 3 years of imprisonment with a probationary period of 3 years.
