Case Description
In the city of Protvino, Moscow Region, on June 10, 2024, the Investigative Department for the city of Serpukhov, based on materials from an FSB and TsPE check, opened a criminal case on "fakes" about the Russian army on the grounds of political hatred against 65-year-old Russian language and literature teacher Natalya Taranushenko. The reason for the criminal prosecution was a class hour conducted by the teacher on April 15, 2022, during which Natalya Alekseevna conducted a "Lesson of Kindness. A teacher told children about the crimes of the Russian army in Bucha, showed them several videos from Ukrainian media, and compared what was happening in Russia to the 1930s in Nazi Germany. The woman told the children that "Russia violates all possible norms of international law, as well as that "22% of Russia's population live with outdoor toilets. Where do we stick our rules?. At the end of the lesson, Natalya apologized to the students for her opinion and admitted that she does not want to live anywhere except Russia. After the lesson, the children asked Natalya if she was sorry that she could be fired for such a lesson, to which she replied: "No, for what I'm telling you. It is reported that one of the students told their parents about the lesson, after which the student's father wrote denunciations about the teacher for two years and demanded that a criminal case be opened against her. Prosecutors refused to initiate criminal proceedings, as they did not find criminal elements in the teacher's actions. But after another inspection in June 2024, the case was nevertheless opened. After the first complaint, the teacher was removed from her position as class teacher, had a conversation, and received a reprimand, but was allowed to continue teaching. On June 12, 2024, Natalia Taranushchenko left Russia. On July 3, 2024, Taranushenko was declared wanted.
