Case Description

On December 27, 2023, two 18-year-old local residents were detained in Yaroslavl. According to the security forces' version, Vladimir Pravdukhin allegedly set fire to a transformer, and Nadezhda Rufanova filmed the arson on her phone to report on the work done to some curator in Telegram, who promised the teenagers a reward of 100 thousand. rubles. No damage was caused to the transformer station. Criminal charges of "sabotage" committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy and involving "an attack on objects of the fuel and energy complex" were brought against the young people. Frunzensky District Court of Yaroslavl placed the defendants in the case in pre-trial detention during the investigation. In April 2024, the court released Rufanova under house arrest. September 18, 2024, the Yaroslavl Regional Court found Nadezhda Rufanova guilty and sentenced her to 4 years in a general regime colony. The girl was taken into custody in the courtroom. 5 December 2024, the First Appellate Court of General Jurisdiction left the sentence unchanged. On December 26, 2024, the Yaroslavl Regional Court found Vladimir Pravdukhin guilty and sentenced him to 15 years in a strict regime colony, with the first 3 years to be served in prison.
