Case Description
In the village of Chongar, Genichesk district, occupied part of Kherson region, no later than September 2024, a 42-year-old local resident, a Ukrainian citizen with forced Russian citizenship, Nadezhda Plekhova, was detained. She was accused of espionage and treason.
According to Russian law enforcement, Plekhova, from September to November 2022, while being a Ukrainian citizen, for money transmitted to Ukrainian special services the most important data on the locations of Russian military equipment and personnel of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. It is claimed that her actions directly threatened the lives of Russian soldiers, as the information received could be used to strike Russian positions.
After Plekhova received Russian citizenship in the spring of 2023, she continued to collect and transmit information about the locations of Russian military and equipment. The collected information with data on the locations of Russian troops was sent to the customer via messenger.
During the investigation, the woman was placed in custody.
On June 4, 2025, the Kherson Regional Court found Nadezhda Plekhova guilty and sentenced her to 13 years of imprisonment in a general-regime correctional colony, with a fine of 100,000 rubles and a restriction of liberty for 1 year.
On September 25, 2025, the First Appellate Court of General Jurisdiction amended the sentence, details unknown.
