Case Description
On February 6, 2024, an explosion occurred in a residential building on Levanevsky Street in annexed Sevastopol. The ceilings between the first and second floors collapsed, but no one was injured. Initially, what happened was explained as a gas explosion. Later, information appeared in state media that an officer of the Black Sea Fleet lived in the apartment with his spouse, and the explosion itself was allegedly an attempted assassination. A criminal case was opened for committing a terrorist act. Later, a local 37-year-old resident, the owner of the apartment where the explosion occurred, a citizen of Ukraine with forced Russian citizenship, Nadezhda Grekova, was detained on charges of committing a terrorist attack." It is claimed that at the time of her detention, the woman was trying to leave the country. According to the Russian investigation, she allegedly acted on behalf of the SBU, with which she had been in contact since 2023. Grekova removed an explosive device from a cache at the coordinates of Ukrainian special services, installed it, and informed her handler. In addition to the charge of terrorism, Grekov was accused of treason, undergoing training for the purpose of carrying out terrorist activities, and illegal handling of explosives or explosive devices." The court placed the Ukrainian woman in custody. On July 30, 2025, the Southern District Military Court found Nadezhda Grekova guilty and sentenced her to 22 years in prison in a general regime colony. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
