Case Description
In Volgograd in November 2020, a criminal case was opened for calls to terrorism against 23-year-old local resident Murad Dadashov. According to the investigation, in April 2020, Dadashov published videos on social networks containing "signs of justifying and propagandizing the activities of armed Chechen militants-separatists, violent and destructive actions aimed at fighting against the power of the Russian Federation on the territory of the Chechen Republic." Dadashev himself stated that one of the pages on social networks does not belong to him, and in December 2020, when Dadashev was in a pre-trial detention center and could not use the Internet, another user logged into it. He also insists that he did not propagandize terrorism. The man was placed in custody for the duration of the investigation. On December 17, 2021, the Southern District Military Court found Murad Dadashyev guilty and sentenced him to 5 years in a general regime colony. On August 10, 2022, the Appellate Military Court upheld the sentence.
