Case Description
In Yekaterinburg in November 2022, the FSB detained a 47-year-old local resident, Mikhail Nikitin. He was accused of attempted terrorism. According to the investigation, Nikitin planned to set fire to the military enlistment office in the Kirovsky district of Yekaterinburg with the aim of "sowing panic among the local population. For this, he allegedly made five 'improvised incendiary devices'." The man was placed in a pre-trial detention center for the duration of the investigation. December 28, 2023, the Central Military District Court found Mikhail Nikitin guilty and sentenced him to 6 years of imprisonment, with the first 3 years to be served in prison and the remaining part in a strict regime colony. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
