Case Description
In Omsk on December 29, 2023, 38-year-old local resident Mikhail Muzalyov was detained. It is claimed that he approached law enforcement with a voluntary confession. During a search of his home, mobile phones, SIM cards from cellular operators, a computer system unit, and other items were seized. Muzalyov was charged with aiding in terrorism financing. According to the investigation, the man, being an entrepreneur in IT, provided messenger accounts to an unidentified person for remuneration. The customer directly told Muzalyov that the accounts were needed to organize the collection of funds for the needs of a terrorist organization. Muzalyov understood that his actions constituted aiding in terrorism financing but fulfilled the order. During the investigation, the defendant was placed in a pretrial detention center. On March 19, 2025, the 2nd Eastern District Military Court found Mikhail Muzalyov guilty and sentenced him to 8.5 years of imprisonment with the first 3 years in prison and the remaining part in a strict regime correctional colony. On July 3, 2025, the Appellate Military Court upheld the sentence without changes. On December 25, 2025, the Judicial Collegium for Military Personnel Cases of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation also upheld the sentence and appellate ruling without changes.
