Case Description
In Krasnodar, no later than April 2023, local resident Mikhail Mungolov, 30, was detained. He was accused of committing sabotage that caused significant property damage. According to the security forces, in April 2023, being dissatisfied with the 'special military operation' being conducted by the Russian authorities, Mungolov decided to set fire to a relay cabinet belonging to JSC 'Russian Railways' and responsible for the operation of a traffic light and automatic block devices. He purchased a lighter, which he had previously hidden near the site of the arson. On April 25, 2023, Mungolov arrived at the object of railway transport infrastructure and, placing a cardboard box with cloth material in the relay cabinet, poured lighter fluid into it. He set the box on fire with a lighter and then fled. As a result of Mungolov's actions, the relay cabinet completely burned down. On July 8, 2024, the Krasnodar Regional Court found Mikhail Mungolov guilty and sentenced him to 12 years in prison to be served in a strict regime colony, with the first year in prison. October 4, 2024, the Third Appellate Court of General Jurisdiction reduced the sentence to 10 years and 1 month in a strict regime.
