Case Description
Most likely, in May 2021, Mikhail Matyushenko, a citizen of Ukraine, was detained in the Moscow region. A criminal case was opened against him for espionage. The court placed the defendant under house arrest. The Lefortovo District Court of Moscow repeatedly extended his measure of restraint. Later, the charges against Matsyuchenko were reclassified: he was accused of illegal manufacture, acquisition, and storage of weapons, as well as attempted smuggling of weapons or potent substances as part of an organized group. The details of the charges are unknown. Along with Matsyuchenko, Mikhail Kuchmenko and Yuri Lvovsky are involved in the case. Both men were also detained in May 2021, and the Lefortovo District Court of Moscow sent them both to a remand prison. On September 4, 2023, the Moscow City Court found the defendants guilty, the size of the punishment is unknown. On December 20, 2023, the First Appellate Court of General Jurisdiction left the verdict unchanged.
