Case Description
On March 25, 2024, in the Moscow region, 31-year-old local resident Mikhail Gromov was detained. He was accused of participating in the activities of a terrorist organization, undergoing training to carry out terrorist activities, preparing for a terrorist attack as part of an organized group, as well as illegal possession of explosives and preparing to illegally manufacture them as part of an organized group. According to the investigation, from January to March 2024, Gromov joined a terrorist organization. According to the investigation, he received instructions from its participants on how to make explosive devices to blow up railway tracks and other objects. Gromov purchased some components for explosives himself, while others he retrieved from caches on the curator's instructions. The defendants in the case were placed in custody for the duration of the investigation. On July 25, 2025, the 2nd Western District Military Court found Mikhail Gromov guilty and sentenced him to 18 years in prison, the first 3 years of which he must serve in prison, and the remaining term in a strict regime correctional colony.
