Case Description
Early in August 2023, the Investigative Committee opened a criminal case in Moscow on 'fakes' about the Russian army motivated by political hatred against former lawyer Mark Feygin. Mark Feygin was prosecuted for interviews and video clips: - an interview with the Israeli "9 Channel" that Feygin gave from April 3 to 6, 2022, in which he said that Russian troops were killing civilians in the city of Bucha; - a stream on the YouTube channel Feygin News on April 6, 2022, titled "The Massacre in Bucha"; - Feygin's interview with the Ukrainian "24 Channel" titled "Putin has already gotten on everyone's nerves, — Feygin on the West's entry into the war" in July 2022; - a stream with Ukrainian political scientist Taras Berezovets, where Feygin said that Russian soldiers were killing civilians in Uman. Feigin himself is not in Russia. In October 2023, Mark Feygin was declared wanted in Russia both nationally and internationally." "On January 26, 2024, Basmanny District Court of Moscow chose to impose a measure of restraint in the form of in absentia detention on Feygin." 1. The court ruled to count the term from the moment of extradition to the territory of the Russian Federation, or from the moment of his detention on the territory of the Russian Federation. On July 16, 2024, the Basmanny District Court of Moscow found Mark Feygin guilty and sentenced him in absentia to 11 years in a general regime colony. On November 7, 2024, the Moscow City Court upheld the sentence.
