Case Description
In September 2019, Mark Davydov, a 46-year-old resident of Crimea, was detained at Krasnodar Airport. He was accused of preparing to participate in the activities of a terrorist organization, financing terrorism, and recruiting individuals for carrying out terrorist activities. According to the investigation, since 2016, Mark Davydov has been in contact with a member of the terrorist organization 'Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham', which is banned in Russia. He collected money for them and also provided access to messenger accounts for recruitment and propaganda. Davidov purchased SIM cards, with which he created internet wallets, to which citizens of Russia and CIS countries transferred more than 569 thousand. rubles. He personally transferred more than 86 thousand. rubles. In September 2019, he attempted to travel to Syria to join terrorists, but was detained. The defendant in the case was placed in the SIZO. On April 7, 2021, the Southern Military District Court found Mark Davydov guilty and sentenced him to 18 years in a strict regime colony, with the first 2 years to be served in prison. October 6, 2021, the Appellate Military Court reduced the sentence by 2 months.
