Case Description
On April 14, 2022, in Kirov, security forces detained spouses Richard and Maria Rose in a case of 'fakes' about the Russian army motivated by political hatred. According to the investigation, they posted posts, photos, and videos of an "offensive and defamatory nature" about the Russian army, including about those killed in Bucha. 15 April, the October District Court of Kirov sent Richard into custody, while Maria was given a measure of restriction in the form of a ban on certain actions. In December, Maria left Russia with her underage son due to criminal prosecution. In May 2023, she was placed on the international wanted list. On January 29, 2024, the Oktyabrsky Court of Kirov found Maria Rose guilty and sentenced her in absentia to 5 years and 6 months of imprisonment, with a 4-year ban on administering internet resources. Since Maria is abroad, the sentence will be carried out from the moment of her appearance or extradition to Russia. On April 4, 2024, the Kirov Regional Court upheld the verdict.
