Case Description
On April 22, 2022, a criminal case was opened against Maxim Petrov, a translator at the Lugansk office of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission, in the occupied part of the Lugansk region. He was accused of treason under the "LNR" criminal code article. According to the investigation, Petrov, on the orders of his "curator" from the intelligence department of the US Department of Defense, prepared and handed over to him materials constituting state secrets about the 2nd Army Corps of the People's Militia of the LPR. On September 19, 2022, the Supreme Court of the LPR found Maksim Petrov guilty and sentenced him to 13 years in a strict regime colony.
