Case Description
In Volgograd on April 20, 2025, 35-year-old local resident Maxim Kuznetsov, previously convicted, was detained. The detention of the man took place with the support of the regional Federal Penitentiary Service. Kuznetsova was accused of confidential cooperation with a foreign organization. According to the FSB, the man proactively established contact with members of terrorist organizations controlled by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. He was passing them information about convicts who had gone to the combat zone. He also planned to receive financial support and weapons from his handlers in order to seize the Volgograd administration and demand a cessation of hostilities. For the duration of the investigation, the defendant was sent to a pre-trial detention center.
