Case Description
In May 2023, the FSB detained unemployed local resident Maxim Buryshev, 21 years old. He was accused of preparing for sabotage and assisting in sabotage activities. According to the FSB's version, on April 24, 2023, Buryshev posted an online job advertisement and left his contact information. Through the Telegram messenger, an unidentified user contacted him, offering to earn money by setting fire to relay cabinets. To report on the work done, it was necessary to photograph the burning object. Following the curator's recommendation, Buryshev allegedly tried to acquire assistants, but two acquaintances whom he offered to set fire to relay cabinets together refused to have anything to do with him. The man prepared a crowbar, which he allegedly planned to use to break into relay cabinets, and was inspecting future potential targets for destruction in the Kemerovo region. On August 7, 2024, the Tomsk Regional Court found Maksim Buryshev guilty and sentenced him to 6.5 years in prison, the first 2 years he must spend in prison, and the remaining term - in a strict regime penal colony. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
