Case Description
At the "Verkhny Lars" checkpoint on the border between Georgia and Russia, on the night of December 3-4, 2022, 25-year-old Crimean Tatar Leine Umerova was detained. She was traveling by bus "Tbilisi-Simferopol", trying to get to Crimea to visit her sick father, who was diagnosed with oncology." "Born in Crimea, Umerova moved to Kyiv in 2015 without obtaining a Russian passport. The border guards detained Umrova "for additional inspection, after which they took the girl to the Sova hotel. This hotel is located outside the city, in the village of Nogir. It turned out that foreign citizens are not allowed to be there. A protocol on an administrative offense was drawn up against Umarova under the article on violation of the rules for crossing the Russian border. On December 4, 2023, Judge Laura Baysangurova of the Prigorodny District Court of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania, having considered the protocol, found Umrova guilty and sentenced her to forced expulsion and a fine of 2 thousand. rubles. Since "Ulumova is a citizen of Ukraine, and since there is no necessary mechanism for expulsion between the countries, the girl spent the next three months in the Center for Temporary Detention of Foreign Nationals. On March 13, 2023, the Fifth Cassation Court of General Jurisdiction excluded the deportation of the girl from the court's decision, and therefore the transfer to the Center for Foreigners. The court separately noted that, judging by the case materials, Umerov does not pose a danger to the country. But at the exit from the court, Lenia was met by unknown people who put a bag over her head, put her in a car and took her to an unfamiliar area of Vladikavkaz. After that, Umerova was consecutively charged four times under the article on disobeying a police officer's demand and was sentenced to 15 days of administrative arrest four times. The term of the last arrest was due to expire on May 12. However, on May 4, it became known that FSB officers took Umerov out of the temporary detention facility in Vladikavkaz. The next day, the court arrested her in a spy case. It is assumed that the investigation believes that Umurova was collecting data on Russian military facilities and equipment of the Vostok group. On September 13, 2024, he was released as part of a prisoner exchange with Ukraine.
