Case Description
On May 8, 2023, in Moscow, Ukrainian citizen Kristina Lyubashenko was detained. According to the prosecution's version, the woman arrived from Geneva, where in a refugee camp she met a man who offered her a large sum of money to come to Moscow and release white-blue-white balloons. A criminal case was opened against a Ukrainian woman for hooliganism. After the start of the war, Lyubashchenko fled to Switzerland with her family. There she met her neighbor named Vitaly Yurchenko, who, according to Posmitnaya, 'posed as a refugee from Ukraine.'", 4. Yurchenko first lent Lyubashenko money, then asked him to go to Moscow and, for money, conduct a "peaceful anti-war action" there. According to the defense, it was Yurchenko who bought Lyubashchenko a one-way ticket and rented an apartment in Dolgoprudny. Upon the arrival of the Kyiv woman in Moscow, Yurchenko demanded that she place speakers with an anti-war speech in the window of the apartment. At first, Lyubashenko did not want to do this, but then an acquaintance began to threaten her that he would report to the guardianship authorities about the daughters she had left in Switzerland. The Ukrainian woman was quickly detained on Vorobyovy Gory. Operative assured that he noticed the woman by chance. On May 11, the Khoroshevsky District Court of Moscow sent Lyubashenko to a pre-trial detention center. When the case was received in court, it turned out that the prosecution reclassified it - the article on hooliganism was excluded, reclassifying the case to participation in the activities of a terrorist organization and dissemination of "fakes" about the Russian army on the grounds of hatred or enmity as part of a group of persons. On June 17, 2024, the 2nd Western Military District Court sentenced 35-year-old Kyiv resident Kristina Lyubashenko to 12 years in a penal colony."
