Case Description
July 2024, two local residents were detained in Sevastopol - 59-year-old Dmitry Podobedov and 52-year-old Konstantin Korolkov. They were accused of treason. Additionally, Podobedov was charged with attempted terrorist act, undergoing training for the purpose of carrying out terrorist activities, as well as illegal manufacturing, acquisition, storage, and transportation of explosives." "An aggravating circumstance in the charge of attempted terrorism was the infliction of significant property damage and the occurrence of other grave consequences." "According to the investigation, in 2023 Podobedov established contact with representatives of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine (GUR MO)", In July-August of the same year, he underwent sabotage training in Kyiv. Upon returning to Sevastopol, he made two explosive devices with remote control on the instructions of his curator. In July 2024, Podobedov installed one of them on a gas pipeline pipe in the Balaklava district of Sevastopol, but he was detained by FSB officers when he was leaving the place where he had planted the explosives. One explosive device was seized from a gas pipeline, the second from his car. Also, according to the investigation, Podobedov recruited his acquaintance Korolkov, and from January to June 2024, they together collected and transmitted information about military facilities of the Russian Ministry of Defense to a representative of the GUR of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. The defendants in the case were sent to a remand prison.
