Case Description
On October 7, 2023, a 34-year-old native of the Moscow region, Kirill Shipovsky, was detained in the Belgorod region. He was accused of illegal possession of firearms and ammunition and attempted sabotage. According to the security forces' version, the man removed an explosive device from a cache and planned to blow up a railway infrastructure facility in the Belgorod region. FSB officers allegedly detained him red-handed. The court placed Shipovsky in a pre-trial detention center. Later, the charges against Shipovsky were toughened - charges of participating in the activities of a terrorist organization and high treason were added. 16 October 2024, the 2nd Western Military District Court found Kirill Shipovsky guilty and sentenced him to 16 years imprisonment, to be served in a prison for 3 years, the remainder in a strict regime penal colony, with 1 year restriction of liberty and a fine of 400 thousand. rubles. February 5, 2025, the Appellate Military Court left the sentence unchanged.
