Case Description
On April 25, 2023, in the Moscow region, on the stretch between Bekasovo-1 and Pozhitkovo stations in the Naro-Fominsk urban district, unknown individuals broke into a transformer relay cabinet and a battery cabinet and attempted to set them on fire using flammable liquid, but only the first box caught fire. The fire was quickly extinguished by the staff, and this did not affect train traffic. Later (the exact date is unknown), a 20-year-old local resident, Kirill Kusakin, was detained on charges of arson. A criminal case was opened against him for sabotage committed by a group of persons and resulting in significant property damage. The court sent him to a pre-trial detention center. March 6, 2024, the Moscow Regional Court found Kirill Kusakin guilty and sentenced him to 12 years in a strict regime colony. The first 3 years he will spend in prison. On September 18, 2024, the First Appellate Court of General Jurisdiction left the verdict unchanged.
