Case Description
In Anadyr, no later than June 2025, a criminal case was initiated for public calls for extremism against 55-year-old local resident, renowned athlete, and initiator of the Transarctic Kite Expedition, Kirill Korabelnikov. The details of the charges and the chosen measure of restraint are unknown. The man was most likely not in custody. On his VKontakte page, the athlete published anti-war poems. In March 2023, he was held accountable under a case of an administrative offense under the article on "discrediting" the Russian army. On November 27, 2025, the Anadyr City Court of the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug found Kirill Korabelnikov guilty, but the size of the punishment is also unknown. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
