In the Kursk region, no later than November 2024, 25-year-old Daniil Motykhaliev from Kurgan and 19-year-old Kirill Dementyev, a native of Ulan-Ude, were detained. They were accused of preparing a terrorist act committed by an organized group. According to the investigation, in October 2023, Motykhliayev and Dementyev established cooperation with a certain radical-minded individual. On his orders in June 2024, they arrived in the Kursk region to commit a terrorist attack that included an attack on a gas distribution station and the bombing of a serviceman. The young people "studied the situation, determined routes, and developed methods of conspiracy." It is claimed that they were detained while removing components of explosive devices from a cache. The defendants in the case were placed in a pre-trial detention center. On October 30, 2025, the 2nd Western Military District Court found Daniil Motykhlyaev and Kirill Dementyev guilty and sentenced Motykhlyaev to 9 years in prison, Dementyev to 7 years in prison, with the first 3 years to be served in prison and the remaining part in a strict regime penal colony, with a 1-year restriction of freedom.
