Case Description
In Baksan, Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, a criminal case was opened against a local resident, a former candidate for deputy of the local self-government council from the CPRF, Khusen Gukov, on charges of repeated "discrediting" of the Russian army. August 7, a search was conducted in Gukov's home, after which he was taken under a written undertaking not to leave and released. The reason for initiating the case was Gukova's posts on Facebook on a closed page. Earlier, in January 2023, Gukova was brought in on a case of an administrative offense under the article on discrediting the army. March 4, 2024, the Baksan District Court of Kabardino-Balkaria found Husen Gukov guilty and sentenced him to one and a half years of conditional imprisonment. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
