Case Description
In Belgorod in July 2025, a 50-year-old local resident, a native of Dagestan, Haskil Yaganov, was detained. He was accused of participating in the activities of a terrorist organization and illegal handling of explosive devices. According to the investigation, Yaganov approved of the ideology of the organization 'Islamic State' and, through a messenger, agreed with one of its members to join the organization's ranks. The defendant reported that he had an F-1 grenade. In July 2025, he agreed to the instructions of the leaders of the IG to blow up people who do not profess Islam, but he was soon detained. Yaganov himself stated that he had never corresponded with anyone, had not joined the IG, and that law enforcement officers had planted a grenade on him. The defendants in the case were placed in custody for the duration of the investigation. On January 16, 2026, the 2nd Western Military District Court found Huskil Yaganov guilty and sentenced him to 17 years in prison, with the first 5 years to be served in prison and the remainder in a strict regime penal colony. The court also fined him 330 thousand. rubles.
