Case Description
A criminal case was opened against contract serviceman Kamil Maratovich Kasimov in Tyumen. The date of the initiation of the case is unknown. On April 23, 2024, he was detained on the territory of Kazakhstan, where he lived. He was accused of desertion committed during mobilization. According to the investigation, in May 2023, Kasimov, while on leave from military service where he participated in combat operations, decided not to return to his unit in Ulan-Ude. n June 2023, he left for Kazakhstan, obtained a residence permit there, and found a job. The defendants in the case were placed in custody for the duration of the investigation. August 13, 2024, the 40th Garrison Military Court at a session in the Omsk Garrison Military Court (Judge Pavel Mikhailovich Dyakov) found Kamil Kasimov guilty and sentenced him to 6 years in a strict regime colony. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
