Case Description
In the occupied Donetsk region, a criminal case was initiated regarding participation in an armed conflict against a citizen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Callum Brown. The date of initiation of the case is unknown. According to the Russian investigation, no later than September 2023, Brown voluntarily signed a contract and joined the 59th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (59th OMPBr of the AFU). Subsequently, he participated in hostilities against representatives of the security forces of the DNR, LNR, and military personnel of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. It is claimed that during his service in the ranks of the AFU, the serviceman received a reward of more than 275 thousand rubles. At the request of the investigation, the court in absentia chose a measure of restraint for Brown in the form of detention. He was placed on the international wanted list. On July 10, 2025, the Supreme Court of the Donetsk People's Republic found Callum Brown guilty and in absentia sentenced him to 14 years of imprisonment to be served in a strict regime correctional colony. The verdict was not appealed and entered into force.
