Case Description
On November 6, 2023, in the city of Morozovsk, Rostov region, an unknown person threw three Molotov cocktails at the military enlistment office building on Kommunisticheskaya Street, house 150. The bottles with the incendiary mixture bounced off the fence, and no fire occurred. The next day, Ivan Svistov, a 50-year-old resident of the khutor Stepano-Sachek in the Milyutinsky district of the Rostov region, was detained on charges of arson. A criminal case was initiated against him for hooliganism motivated by political hatred. On November 9, the Morozovsk District Court of the Rostov region sent the man to a pre-trial detention center. On September 25, 2024, the Morozovsk District Court of the Rostov region found Ivan Svistov guilty and sentenced him to 1 year and 8 months in a general regime penal colony. On December 5, 2024, the Rostov Regional Court upheld the verdict.
