Case Description
In the Tula region, no later than April 2025, a criminal case was opened against 34-year-old Ivan Leonov, who is serving a sentence in correctional colony No. 6, for repeatedly publicly displaying Nazi symbols and symbols similar to Nazi symbols to the point of confusion. According to the investigation, Leonov, who had previously been held administratively liable for displaying Nazi symbols, continued to publicly display his tattoos while serving his sentence in a penal colony. On December 2, 2024, he showed tattoos with Nazi symbols (swastika, 'zig' runes, 'Wolfsangel') and those similar to them (the inscription 'Terrormachine', inverted cross, and others) to convicts and colony staff. Information about the measure of restraint during the investigation is not available, but it was not related to imprisonment. On June 4, 2025, the Novomoskovsky District Court of the Tula Region found Ivan Leonov guilty and sentenced him to one and a half years in prison. Taking into account the previous sentence of the Ramensky City Court of the Moscow Region dated July 3, 2024, the final punishment amounted to two years of imprisonment in a strict regime penal colony with a fine of 120 thousand. rubles. Leonova was taken into custody in the courtroom. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
