Case Description
A homemade explosive device was found on the access tracks to the railway substation, leading in the direction of military unit 77043 in the city of Yaroslavl in the morning of December 26, 2023. During a patrol, a guard discovered a tunnel under the concrete wall surrounding the transformer booths of the Filino railway station. On December 30, 2023, 23-year-old local resident Ivan Khripko was detained on charges of involvement in the mining of a substation. According to the security forces, during a search of his apartment they found a balaclava, gloves, as well as all substances and elements needed to make an IED. A criminal case for terrorism was opened against Khripko. For the duration of the investigation, he was placed in a pre-trial detention center. At the end of July 2024, Khripko's charges were aggravated—treason was added. The details of the charges are unknown. 28 February 2025, the Yaroslavl Regional Court found Ivan Khripko guilty and sentenced him to 20 years in a strict regime colony, the first 2 years of the sentence he will spend in prison, the rest of the time - in a strict regime colony. The court also imposed a fine of 300 thousand "rubles fine and 1.5 years of restriction of liberty. On June 26, 2025, the First Appellate Court of General Jurisdiction left the sentence in force.
