Case Description
In St. Petersburg in December 2024, local resident Ivan Kartashev was detained, and a criminal case was opened against him for cooperating on a confidential basis with a foreign state. According to the investigation, Kartashov allegedly established contact with American special services - for money, he passed on information regarding a certain object and UAV complexes. The communication with the CIA allegedly took place via email and messengers. Kartashov indicated the purpose of his cooperation with the CIA, aimed at changing the political regime in the Russian Federation. On December 18, 2024, the Vasileostrovsky District Court of St. Petersburg sent Kartashov into custody. Later, the charges against Kartashov were toughened - he was charged with state treason.
