Case Description
In March 2023, in the village of Tovarkovo, Kaluga Oblast, 33-year-old local resident Ivan Yepikhin was detained. He was accused of public calls for terrorism and extremism. According to law enforcement, in leaflets placed in the snow in the village of Tovarovo, he called Crimea Ukrainian and the Russian regime "fascist." The measure of restraint is unknown. Epikhin was charged with a new offense in June 2023 - illegal possession of explosives: allegedly, during a search at his home, security forces found "an explosive substance obtained from pyrotechnic products." "5 July 2023, the 2nd Western Military District Court found Ivan Yepikhin guilty and sentenced him to 3 years in a general regime colony. October 19, 2023, the Appellate Military Court reduced Epikhin's prison sentence to 2 years and 9 months.
