Case Description
On January 26, 2024, in the village of Kirovske in annexed Crimea, FSB officers conducted a search at the home of 28-year-old Crimean Tatar Ismail Shem-shedinov. After the investigative actions were completed, he was taken away. For a year, the relatives knew nothing about the man's fate. The family, together with the lawyer, wrote requests to local authorities and federal representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, FSB, prosecutor's office, military investigative departments, garrison military prosecutor's office and the military investigative department of the Black Sea Fleet. It later turned out that he was incommunicado in the Crimea's SIZO-2. A year later, on January 14, 2025, Shemshedinov was charged with treason. The details of the charges are unknown. On July 22, 2025, the Supreme Court of Crimea found Ismail Shem-shedinov guilty and sentenced him to 13 years in a strict regime colony." The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
